With the next major content update for The War Within, Undermine(d), fast approaching and multiple World of Warcraft (WoW) Classic experiences delighting players in tandem, the game's executive producer Holly Longdale shared her thoughts in a post about what players can expect in 2025.
In the official blog post (https://ift.tt/9HFr6LE), Holly shared her and the team's thoughts regarding WoW's current state. She discussed their vision for the future, focusing on how they plan to create experiences for all players.
Additionally, she provided the community with the first news about an upcoming feature in the new Midnight expansion: player housing.
Holly also expressed gratitude on behalf of the development team to the player community for their generous contributions to this year's WoW Charity Pet program, which benefits CureDuchenne.
In a follow-up blog from the development team (https://ift.tt/54pBtLS), players were informed their contributions raised USD 2 million with their purchase of The Reven Pack, inspired by Mats Steen, a Norwegian WoW player who died of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and whose story is the subject of the Netflix documentary, The Remarkable Life of Ibelin.
Lastly, following up on the surprise announcement during the Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct last November, the WoW development team revealed the first look at the player housing feature coming in the upcoming expansion, Midnight. They shared their design philosophy for this new feature.
In this first post, the development team covers the design pillars that will act as a blueprint for the direction of player housing. Next, the team unveiled the two areas in which players can expect to experience this new feature in Azeroth when it becomes available. The team also explained how it approaches the social aspects of housing, including Neighborhoods, cross-faction accessibility, and overall space availability for players.
