Arcane Overview

Arcane is an animated steampunk-themed television series that tells the story of two famous League of Legends (LoL) champions, Jinx and Vi, who are sisters.

Jinx (Powder) and Vi are fighting opposing sides in a conflict between Piltover and its oppressed underside, Zaun. Powder emerges as mischievous Jinx, and Vi becomes a formidable champion by the end of the first season, which aired in November 2021.

Riot Games' multiplayer online battle arena game (MOBA) League of Legends inspired Arcane. Christian Linke and Alex Yee co-created the animated TV series. It was produced by the French studio Fortiche Production in partnership with Riot Games.

Arcane Season 1 Recap

Jinx (Powder), Vi, Mylo, and Claggor attempt a heist in Piltover, but Jinx explodes the magic crystals she obtained, causing Runeterra-wide events. After surviving the botched mission, Mylo complains to Vi that Powder always jinxes them. Vi advises her sister to learn from her mistakes. However, when another of Powder's errors proves fatal, she is captured by Silco, a Zaunite drug lord who wants to overthrow Piltover. Powder then takes the name Jinx and moves in with Silco, believing herself to be bad luck to her chosen family.

Using the same magical crystals Jinx stole, inventor Jayce Talis and his visionary partner Viktor are creating Hextech in Piltover. This new arcane technology can improve civilization, but in the wrong hands, it could harm life. Meanwhile, after asking Vi in Stillwater jail for help finding Silco, Piltover enforcer Caitlyn, Jayce's childhood friend, forms an odd partnership with her. At the end of the season, Vi and Jinx meet again, now on opposite sides of a city war.

Arcane Season 2 Plot

The world expands even further in the second season of Arcane, visiting unexpected places. Season Two continues right after the dramatic events of Season One when Jinx uses a stolen Hextech gemstone against the Piltover council. Many characters from Season One, who tried to be good, now face the growing conflict between the two cities. By the end of Season One, avoiding that confrontation is no longer possible. In Season Two, the story dives into the characters' darker sides.

Sisters Jinx and Vi are still not getting along. Jinx needs to face the consequences of her reckless choice, which could have ruined any chance of fixing the problems between Piltover and Zaun. This decision may also hurt her relationship with Vi.
