Kamehameha! Heads up, Dragon Ball fans in the Philippines! The premiere episode of Dragon Ball Daima will be available to stream on Crunchyroll, starting October 12, 2024, at 1 AM PH Time, with new episodes being released every Friday night.
Besides the release date, here's what you need to know. Dragon Ball Daima is an all-new original anime series produced by Toei Animation in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Akira Toriyama's original manga Dragon Ball, which grew to become the worldwide popular franchise we know today.

Dragon Ball Daima: Welcome to the Demon Realm
Japanese firm Toei Animation presents a new Dragon Ball (DB) anime to celebrate Akira Toriyama's 40th anniversary of the famous manga.
Dragon Ball DAIMA, the forthcoming original anime series based on a new DB story and characters from creator Akira Toriyama, will launch on Crunchyroll on October 11 in the United States (October 12, 2024, in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines), followed by weekly subtitled episodes (including English) simulcast with the Japanese TV broadcast.
Crunchyroll provided an overview of the anime, which goes like this:
Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small. What sort of adventure awaits Goku, Supreme Kai, and the new characters Glorio and Panzy in this unknown world, the "Demon Realm"?
Meanwhile, here are the staff members involved in the Dragon Ball DAIMA anime series:
- Directors: Yoshitaka Yashima (key animator, Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge) and Aya Komaki (series director, One Piece)
- Series composition and scenario: Yuko Kakihara
- Animation character design: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru
Grammy Award-winning artist Zedd composed the series' opening theme song, "Jaka Jaan," with support from C&K, the singer-songwriter combo of CLIEVY and KEEN, who also sang. Yukinojo Mori, famed for Dragon Ball songs "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" and "Limit Break x Survivor," wrote the lyrics. This song and its amazing collaboration have started a new Dragon Ball chapter. Further, Zedd will be producing the ending OST "'NAKAMA' by ZEDD feat. AI", whose lyrics were written and performed by the artist AI.
The Dragon Ball Special Panel at New York Comic Con 2023 introduced Dragon Ball DAIMA to acclaim last October. Dragon Ball, created by Akira Toriyama and first published in 1984 in Shueisha's "Weekly Shonen Jump," has sold 260 million copies globally and is still counting. This new episodic series celebrates its 40th anniversary.
Notably, Dragon Ball, produced by Toei Animation, has become widespread pop culture and has a multi-generational fan following. With Dragon Ball DAIMA, the franchise now has six episodic series, including Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Z Kai, and Dragon Ball Super, as well as 21 feature films, several mobile and video games, trading card games, and an ever-growing catalog of licensed merchandise and location-based entertainment.
