Overview of Samsung One UI 7 Update
Enhanced AI Features
One UI 7 has powerful upgrades for Galaxy AI features, including advanced writing assist tools. These tools are built into the AI operating system (OS), helping users increase productivity by selecting text without switching between apps.
This update enhances the existing writing assist tools for Galaxy users. It offers AI options to summarize content, automatically format notes into bullet points, and check spelling and grammar.
New Design for Better Personalization and Control
One UI 7 introduces a new look and powerful AI features, including a revamped notification system. This system makes it easier to communicate by providing quick access from the lock screen. It features the "Now Bar," which shows relevant activities such as Interpreter, Music, Recording, Stopwatch, and more.
With instant access to important notifications, users do not need to unlock their devices constantly. This feature allows for easy engagement with key information. The Now Bar will be available on upcoming Galaxy S series devices and will enhance the lock screen experience, which will continue to get smarter in the future.
These upgrades focus on a clear and engaging design. They create a smooth and connected experience for Galaxy users. One UI 7 uses bold design elements to reduce visual clutter, making it easy to use. It aims to create a welcoming experience that connects with users personally and allows for easy interactions with AI features on their mobile devices.
The redesigned home screen features simple One UI widgets and a new lock screen. These elements help users take control of every detail, making customization easy and straightforward.
Moreover, the new camera app design makes it easier to control advanced settings. Samsung reorganized the camera buttons, controls, and modes so users can quickly find the features they need. This also gives you a clearer preview of the photo or video you are taking.
In the "Pro" and "Pro Video" modes, the manual settings are now simpler, making it easier to focus on your photo or video. When using Pro Video mode, a new zoom control lets you adjust the zoom speed for smoother transitions.
Enhanced Security and Privacy
Knox Matrix is Samsung's plan for the future, improving protection with intelligent, multi-layered threat monitoring across connected Samsung devices. One UI 7 provides the foundation for better security.
Knox Matrix monitors devices using Trust Chain, a secure private blockchain, and the new dashboard simplifies transparent security across a connected device ecosystem. Checking the security status of numerous Samsung smart devices, including Galaxy mobile devices, TVs, and home appliances, is easier than ever with One UI 7. All linked devices will show as 'green' or secure if they are updated and risk-free. The dashboard also alerts users to at-risk devices with actionable recommendations.
A new Enhanced Data Protection recovery method simplifies Samsung Cloud data retrieval. It syncs and secures linked devices and provides a backup plan if a trusted device is lost. One UI 7 lets users move recovered private data to a new device by authenticating their previous device's lock screen factor (pin, pattern, password).
In Knox Matrix's Credential Sync, Samsung has created passkeys to manage and safeguard identities and credentials in today's interconnected world. One UI 7 lets users create and use Samsung Account passkeys, which allow users to securely log in to apps, devices, and websites using their smartphones' fingerprint sensors.
Moreover, the Maximum Restrictions feature protects users against modern cyberattacks. One UI 7 adds new features to enhance user choice and offer extra security. It now includes network connection controls so users can enjoy increased protection without compromising device functionality. Users can block 2G service and prevent data interception on potentially unsafe networks with the enhanced controls. Users can also restrict automatic reconnection to less secure Wi-Fi networks to keep data private while maintaining the option to connect manually. Further, Maximum Restrictions now blocks hyperlinks, previews, and shared albums, removes location data from shared photographs, and prevents automatic attachment downloads in Samsung Messages and Gallery.
Meanwhile, One UI 7 offers new possibilities for customizing security settings for device use. Users can block USB connections to restrict USB port access to battery charging when the device is locked.
The new Safe Install feature in One UI 7 works with Auto Blocker to warn users when they download from an unofficial source to prevent sideloading malicious apps.
Additionally, One UI 7 brings Galaxy-only capabilities to Android's theft protection solutions, ensuring personal data is safe even when devices are lost or stolen. Galaxy users may now use Identity Check, an opt-in tool for PIN compromise, in addition to Offline Device Lock, Theft Detection Lock, and Remote Lock. These Galaxy-exclusive measures will activate if suspicious activity is identified.
Samsung will begin releasing One UI 7 with new Galaxy S series devices in the first quarter of 2025. The company also plans to extend its policy of providing OS updates so other Galaxy devices will receive the skin update over time.
