Civilization VII (Civ7), featuring Philippine national hero Jose Rizal among its playable leaders, is now available on PC and consoles.
The highly-anticipated 4X turn-based strategy game has three editions: Standard, Deluxe, and the limited-time Founders, developer Firaxis Games and publisher 2K revealed.
You can purchase Civ7 on various platforms, including PlayStation 5 (PS5), PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC through Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac and Linux through Steam. Meanwhile, the VR version is slated for launch in Summer 2025.
On Steam, the listed prices for each edition of Sid Meier's Civilization VII are as follows:
- Standard Edition: PHP 2,920.00
- Deluxe Edition: PHP 3,950.00
- Founders Edition: PHP 5,130.00
In a statement, Firaxis Games and 2K announced that the VR version of Civilization VII is slated for release in Summer 2025.
In Civilization VII, your strategic choices shape the culture of your growing empire. You lead one of many historical figures and choose a new civilization to represent your empire in each Age of human development. Build cities and wonders to expand your territory, advance your civilization with the latest technologies, and either conquer or cooperate with other civilizations while exploring the unknown world. You can enjoy a rich solo experience or play with other players in online multiplayer.
One of the playable leaders in Civ7 is our very own national hero, Dr. José Rizal, marking a significant milestone for Filipino representation in the international gaming industry.
José Rizal passionately defended Filipino dignity and autonomy. As a political activist in Europe, he criticized the Spanish rule of his nation and pushed for peaceful reform and equal rights. The Spanish tried and executed him. But his revolutionary passion overwhelmed him and has inspired Filipinos ever since.
Here's the character's greeting line in-game: I am Jose Rizal, poet, painter, revolutionary. The leader's starting bias on the map is Tropical. His unique ability, "Pambansang Bayani," will provide additional Culture and Gold for each narrative event. Meanwhile, his attributes are "Cultural" and "Diplomatic," and his agenda is "Kapwa."
Civilization VII blends strategy, history, and culture, making Rizal a suitable addition to its wide range of world leaders, including Napoleon, Catherine the Great, Charlemagne, Augustus, Lafayette, Benjamin Franklin, and Himiko.
